Obituary of Jack G. Fincham

On Tuesday, September 24, 2013, Jack Gruber Fincham, died of natural causes at Legacy Pointe. Jack was the son of Guy and Alberta Fincham and brother of the late Richard W. Fincham. He was born in Sioux City, Iowa on June 24, 1927, and lived there until the family moved to Ames, Iowa where Jack graduated from Ames High School in 1945. He immediately enlisted in the Navy and served a two year commitment in the South Pacific. Jack attended both Iowa State College and the University of Iowa where he earned his MFA from the University of Iowa Writers Workshop. He was affiliated with the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Jack lived and worked in Piedmont, Missouri for over 40 years as a park ranger for the Army Corps of Engineers at the Clearwater Reservoir. The Rotary Club of Piedmont recently honored Jack with a Lifetime Membership in recognition of 44 years of dedicated service. Jack moved to Iowa City to be closer to family. Survivors include his sister-in-law, Linda Fincham; niece, Nancy Fincham and nephew, Ben Fincham (Heidi) all of Iowa City and nephew David Fincham (Erin) of Helena, MT. Jack was especially fond of his three great-nieces Madeline and Grace Fincham of Iowa City and Annalinda Fincham of Helena, MT.
