Steven C. Dowd

Condolences
I'll always remember Steve as being one of the nicest Administrators I have ever met. He was present at all the Award/ Holiday meetings and received many rewards for his facility. A truly nice man that will be missed by all that knew him.
I have subscribed to the Toledo Chronicle for 50 years and as I get older it has become a sad journey to read the obituaries each week. How sad I was to see that Steve had passed on. I looked at the photos here on the memory page and it seems that Beth and Steve had a good life together and I am so sorry that it has been cut short. My sincere condolences to you, Beth, and your family. Fern, I can not imagine the grief at losing both of your children. Susan was a wonderful person and a great inspiration to me. Fern, I remember when you and your husband were our leaders for Sunday evening youth group. You were so brave! God bless you and give you comfort.
Dear Beth,
Larry and I were so surprised to learn of Steve's death. We were gone almost the entire month of October. It was long after we returned home that someone who used to sit near us at the Women's Basketball games told us about his death. I wanted to write you a note, but you are not listed in the phone book so here we are today, writing you a very belated note via Gay & Ciha. We had no idea that he was even ill. We hope that you will be sitting by our side during Women's basketball so we can continue to cheer and visit. We are so very sorry. Judy & Larry
Beth and family,
Beth - You've spent so much of your time selflessly caring for others. You have helped our family through some very difficult times. Thank you for that. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time.
Beth and Family,
I want to express my condolences to Steve's family. I worked with Steve for many, many years. He placed employment ads with me at The Gazette.. I always enjoyed working with Steve and I will miss him.
My deepest sympathy,
Brad Miller
I have such fond memories of the college days with Steve and Beth! Beth, it sounds like Steve cut a pretty wide swath in this thing we called life. Now he's in heaven, quietly urging the Lord to consider his way!

My deepest sympathies to Steve's family. I did not know Steve very well, but would see him occasionally when I visited my father at Lantern Park. Steve always had a smile and would say "Hello" whenever I was there. I am sorry to hear of Steve's passing as it seems he did a lot for many people throughout his career. I hope that peace finds you during this difficult time.

Beth, I was saddened to learn of Steve's death this week. Although I haven't seen either one of you since we graduated high school all those years ago, I've have fond memories of both of you and wanted to express my condolences. The two of you certainly have had a wonderful life together and I know those many memories will comfort and sustain you in the future. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.
It was an honor to work with Steve for the past 4 years. He was always kind, professional, respectful, honest, and positive- all qualitites of an outstanding leader. His presence helped make the world a better place, and it will be missed.
It was an honor to sing some hymns for you in your last days before going to be with Jesus. Thank you for your faithful service to the eastern Iowa community. My prayers go out to all the friends and family members of Steve.
To the Family of Steven Dowd, our sincerest sympathy on your loss. We only met Steve ounce when he came over to visit us on our Patio. He was a wonderful person. The Lord brings us into this world to complete a mission and when it is over, he calls us back home. Steve completed his mission,; however, we all wish he could have stayed with us longer. We always question why now, but need to have faith that this is what The Lord wanted. We all want to stay in this world as long as we can, however that is not of our choice"
May The Lord welcome Steve into his Kingdom and May God Bless and look after those left behind!

Mrs. Dowd and Family,
Steve was a very special and unique, just and upright, person who walked the walk and talked the talk while serving his God, his communirty, and his family. Staeve voluntarily undertook and accomplished takss with no expectation of reward or recognition. He did them just because they needed to be done. As a Masonic,Brother Steve served and mentored his Brothers with distinction and integrety. As the Treasurer of Clarksville Lodge No 668 A.F. & A.M., his work was well and faithfully done. Our fraternity will miss his service and guidance.
Beth:
I just saw this notice of Steve's passing...and it brought first tears to my eyes...and then a smile to my face remembering Steve and his gentle nature and quick laugh. He was a wonderful man, a great Christian friend, and a loving husband and father who will be missed. Please know that although I am far away, I am with you in spirit. I still miss St Andrew and all the folks I knew over the years. You and Steve never left my heart and I am praying for you now.

My deepest sympathy to all the family. You are in my thoughts and prayers
Steve's love and compassion seemed limitless to those of us who admired him. It was a privilege to work with Steve, and while the health care community has suffered a tremendous loss, it is nothing compared to the huge hole left in the hearts of his family members. I had the greatest of respect for Steve Dowd. What a wonderful person he was and I pray for God Blessings for each and every one of you who meant so much to him.
Dear Beth,

Beth, Fern, and family: our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of sadness. May your happy memories with Steve give you peace and comfort in the days ahead. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Dowd was very kind and helpful during my late mother Orvetta's stays last year at Lantern Park. My condolences to his family and the staff at Lantern Park.
I will always remember Steve as a gentle man, who treated everyone with kindness and respect. He was the epitome of a compassionate and kind nursing home administrator. He will be missed.
To the Dowd family my deepest sympathies. I had the pleasure of working with Steve while I was a nurse at Lantern Park many years ago. He made a special effort to welcome me on my first day to the Lantern Park family as he called it. He treated the staff and residents with such kindness and compassion. He stands out as one of the best administrators I have ever worked with. A true angel on earth and now in heaven.
I was so sorry to hear of Steve's passing. I knew him through Lantern Park, as my son-in-law resides there, and also through our neighborhood of Terra Woods. He was a friendly and most helpful person who will be missed by many. I send my sympathy to all his family.
So sorry to hear of Steve's passing. We all have to keep our eyes on the prize and some day we'll be sitting at that marvelous table with the MASTER just as Steve is now. We LOVE YOU ALL!
So sorry to hear of Steve's passing. Such a wonderful man, I worked with him several times in OP PT at the Coralville clinic. His faith in Jeus Christ was evident in the way he treated others and talked about his faith. He will be greatly missed.
Beth, Our thoughts and prayers are with Steve, you, and your family. We regret that we are both out of town and not able to attend Steve's services.

It was an honor to know Steve for the time I did
To the Dowd family,Steve was a great man always full of joy it was my pleasure to know Steve.
Beth, Phil and Sarah,
My heart is sad this week for what you are enduring. I know the feeling of loss of a parent due to pancreatic cancer -- my own mother died from this in 1964. You have many memories and pictures you can treasure and no one can take that away from you. I know Steve was a wonderful husband and father and you have been truly blessed to have had that. It is so true to not put off what one wants to do/enjoy as we know all too well that life is short and must be enjoyed while we can. Thinking of you during this time and know that we are here for you. In Sympathy -- Donna
I was so saddened to read this morning of Steve's death. I am a recently retired nursing professor from The University of Iowa, and I worked with Steve for many years. Numerous nursing students had the privilege of gaining experience caring for older adults at Lantern Park, and it was Steve who made that possible. He made us feel welcome and was committed to providing a positive learning environment for my students.
Godspeed Steve and thank you so much for your many years of dedication. Truly an inspiration! Thinking of your family, colleagues, staff and the thousands of lives you touched. I know you will be sorely missed.
I had the opportunity to work with Steve during my stint with Care Initiatives. Steve was extremely knowledgable, hard worker, and always had a kind word for those who were in pain or suffering. He lifted others with his positive attitude and spirit. Well respected by his peers, and as a fellow Administrator he was one of the best. Steve, you shall be missed. May God rest your soul, and I pray for peace for those you leave behind.
Beth and family,
So sorry to see of Steve's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
I had the pleasure of working with steve at lantern park for 7 years as a therapist and got to be good friends. My best memories are taking a couple of fly in fishing trips with him which really enjoyed. Our prayers are with you always.
