Obituary of Charlotte J. Bagley

Charlotte J. Bagley, 90 of Iowa City, and formerly of Des Moines died Thursday, October 17, 2013, at an Iowa City care center. Charlotte Jean Cain was born June 15, 1923, in Creston, Iowa, the daughter of William and Blanche Cain. She graduated from Lorimor High School and earned a teaching degree at a local college. She taught for several years and as World War II progressed, enrolled in the cadet-nursing program at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, graduating in 1947. After college, she moved to Des Moines where she met Leslie Bagley, a returning U.S. naval officer who had served in the pacific during the war. She married him at the Little Brown Church in the Vale on November 15, 1948. She remained a devoted Registered Nurse in Des Moines at numerous hospitals. As her family grew she preferred to raise her four children at home. A devoted wife and mother, she loved entertaining, antiquing, cooking and traveling. She was always available for comfort with her lovely smile and warm personality. Charlotte is survived by her children, David Bagley of Colorado, Michael Bagley of Iowa City, Kathleen (Bagley) Criddle of Phoenix, and one grandson, Travis of Phoenix, Arizona. Her husband, son, Douglas, and brother Stanley Cain preceded her in death. At this time memorial services are pending.
