Obituary of Jimmie D. Smith

Jimmie "Jimbo" D. Smith, 47, of North Liberty, died Monday morning at his home. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, November 14th at Oakhill Cemetery in Coralville. A time of visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Memorials in Jimmie's name can be made to the Jimmie Smith Memorial Fund. Jimmie Dean Smith Jr. was born July 25, 1966, in Iowa City, IA; son of Jimmie E. and Alta M. (Blaha) Smith. He grew up in the Coralville/Iowa City and worked for several years at the Coralville Hy-Vee and more recently at Haights Hawkeye Meat Market. His family includes his daughters, Tabitha and Allisha Smith and their mother, and Jimmie's former wife, Valarie Tang and step-daughters, Amber and Samantha Lee; mother, Alta Smith of North Liberty; sisters, Pam Lange of North Liberty, Luanne Jones (David) of North Liberty, Tami Seering (Mike) of North Liberty and Annette Yeggy (Tony) of Elkader, IA, as well as numerous extended family members. Jimmie was preceded in death by his father.
