When Jill and I were about 3, we each stepped on a nail at the same time while out playing at the farm. Gma put us both on the kitchen counter and got us cleaned up. I think we probably cried a lot, but it couldn't have been that bad! Gma also showed me how to use the wringer washer! that was pretty exciting. This was how ladies did laundry in the early sixties and it fascinated me. A few years later, Gma nursed me to health when I got stomach flu on a summer stay with her, Gpa, and Jill in Coralville. I don't suppose she felt like nursing an infectious pre-teen, but she was very gentle and caring. I can hear her voice saying "well, I'll be dog-goned" and "cripes!"
