Obituary of Carrie D. Martin

Carrie Denise Martin fell asleep in death on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, after a long battle with illness. Carrie was born October 11, 1967, in Chicago, IL the daughter of Phillips and Barbara (Mead) Martin. She was a loving and caring mother to her sons, Newman and De-Sean. Carrie was a person of faith and was an active member of the local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Iowa City. Carrie is survived by her two sons, Newman Marcus Martin of Des Moines, and DeSean DeAndre Martin of North Liberty; seven siblings, Anthony Martin, Phyllis Martin, Delores Martin-Hall, Phillips Martin, Barbara Martin, Shawn Martin, and Clarence Martin all of Chicago; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial services will be held at 3 pm Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with a time of visitation following these services.
