On November 27, 1947, Paul began working for Eastern Iowa Light and Power Cooperative where he retired from in 1982.
Living at Lone Tree Paul played his guitar for fun and they camped, fished, hunted, and socialized. Alfred Krogh had co-founded Lodge 326 of the Danish Brotherhood and Paul was a member for many years. Paul and Mildred also belonged to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepard at Wellman where Paul was an Elder, Trustee and Usher. They also went to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City. In their later years, Paul and Mildred loved to take their grandchildren and great-grandchildren camping and boating.
