Obituary of Virginia K. Scott

Virginia K. Scott, 60, of rural Iowa City, died at home Saturday, June 11, 2016. A time of visitation will be held 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, June 15th at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. A time to remember and celebrate Ginny’s life will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Eagles Lodge in Iowa City. Family inurnment will take place later at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorials in Ginny’s name may be made to the Ginny Scott Memorial Fund. Virginia Kay Humphreys was born July 14, 1955, in Iowa City; daughter of Charles R. and Dorothy B. (Huffman) Humphreys. She graduated with the last graduating class at U High and earned her AA from Kirkwood Community College. She had worked as a manager at Western World for 32 years. On May 30, 1998 she married Raymond Scott. Ginny loved reading a good book, spending Wednesday evenings at the casino, snowmobiling, playing euchre and was an accomplished bowler, a sport which she’s participated in for nearly 40 years. She also enjoyed collecting moose and ship prints and listening to her country music. Her family includes her husband, Raymond; sisters, Marguerite Humphreys of Iowa City and Suzanne Humphreys of North Liberty; niece, Jade Robertson of Texas; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Chown of Wisconsin, Ruth Smith (Guy) of Iowa City; brother-in-law, Richard Scott (Iris) of Iowa City; uncle, Robert Huffman of Kansas; cousin, Tom Paulsen of New Jersey and her beloved dogs, Ruby and Sadie. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Roylene Johnson and brother-in-law, Roy Scott Jr.
