Obituary of Alice Lucile Orr
Alice Orr, 89, passed away peacefully Friday morning, June 10, 2016 at Colonial Manor after being diagnosed with dementia in 2015. Alice was born July 1, 1926 in Montezuma, Iowa to William L. and Doris M. (Phillips) Peterson. She was a 1944 graduate of Muscatine High School.
On March 17, 1946 she married the love of her life, David Russell Orr, at the Methodist Church in Conesville, Iowa. Her uncle, the Reverend Robert Phillips, officiated the ceremony. Besides being a wife and mother of four, she worked for many years as a secretary in Columbus Junction and later in Washington, Iowa.
After living many years of their married life on a farm in the Columbus Junction area, she and Russell retired to Arizona for 10 years before moving back to Columbus Junction where they continued to enjoy their many friends and family.
Alice was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Columbus Junction. She enjoyed cooking/baking, entertaining her family and friends, quilting with the Presbyterian ladies and being an avid card player.
She is survived by her loving husband, Russell; daughter, Kaye (Dennis) Sipolt of Corinth, TX; David (Becky) Orr of Muscatine, IA; Randy (Nancy) Orr of Columbus Junction, IA; Leslie (Brian) Jensen of Meadville, PA and seven grandchildren: Dave (Staci) Orr; Kim (Brock) Wilson; Jeremy (Shauna) Orr, Jessica (Marcos) Esquivel; Rob (Robyn) Jensen, Mariah Jensen, and Travis Jensen. Alice and Russell were also blessed with 10 wonderful, great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Lewis Peterson of Nichols, IA; her sister, Arlene Buckman of Muscatine, IA; two very special, loving sister-in-laws, Martha Peterson, Nichols, IA and Jean Steuart of Vancouver, Washington and many caring friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Ellen Hoag; and brother, Bill Peterson. Alice will be sadly missed by her family and friends, but she leaves with each and every one of
them many, very happy memories.
Memorial services will be held at 11am , Saturday, June 25, 2016, at the Presbyterian Church in Columbus Junction.
