Obituary of James A. Haack

James A. “Jim” Haack, 60 of Tipton, died Sunday, June 26, 2016. A gathering time for family and friends will be held from 4 to 7 pm Friday, July 1, 2016, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with a prayer service at 3 pm. On Saturday beginning at 1 pm a celebration of life will be held at Shakespeare’s of Iowa City where Hawaiian shirts and flip flops will be the best attire. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his memory to the Tipton First Responders or to the Iowa City Friends of the Animal Center Foundation. James Allen Haack was born May 19, 1956, in Davenport, Iowa the son of Robert and Jeanne (Hayes) Haack. He attended schools in Davenport and the University of Iowa where he received his Masters of Science in Engineering. For many years he worked for MidAmerican Energy. He also was a Scuba Instructor, operating Haack Scuba with his wife, JoAnn. Jim enjoyed life to its fullest, loved anything outdoors including fishing, cross country skiing, boating, camping, raptors, scuba diving and photography, all of these made better when he did it with his family and friends, which was often! He loved being Papa to his two granddaughters. His family includes his wife, Josephine “JoAnn”; daughter, Jenni Olson (Kevin); granddaughters, Annika and Mia Olson; father, Robert Haack; brothers, Joel Haack (Linda), Jon, and Jeffrey Haack; his former spouse, Carol Haack and many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews and additional family members. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanne.
