Obituary of Jacqueline Michel
Jacqueline “Jackie” Michel, 87 of Iowa City, formerly of Hills, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Mercy Hospital.
Jackie was born October 2, 1928, near Hills, Iowa, the daughter of Alex and Vera (Gross) Gringer. Following graduation from City High School in 1946, she attended and graduated from the Irish Business College, also in Iowa City. On September 8, 1948, she was united in marriage to Calvin J. “Rink” Michel. The couple lived in Hills for many years where they raised their five children.
Her family includes her children, Craig Michel (Pat), Becky Heitzman (Dick), Cindy Wolfe (Ron), Michele Gerot (George), and Robin Zinkula (Allan); 14 grandchildren, Denise, Aaron and Chris; Zach and Katie; Stacey and Ben; Holly, Jill, Alison and Kyle; Jace, Jackie, and Michael; 27 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Thelma Kornegor.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 2 sisters, Lela Simpson and Lillian Yeggy.
In respecting Jackie’s wishes, private family services are being planned, with burial next to her husband at the St. Stanislaus Cemetery near Hills. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations sent to the Gay and Ciha Funeral Home will be made in her memory to the St. Stanislaus Cemetery Fund.
