Obituary of Romeral Stephon Harris
Romeral Stephon Harris (Romie) was the fourth child born to Will H. and Charlesetta Franks Harris on November 22, 1966, in Chicago, IL. His father preceded him in death.
Romie grew up in Calvary Baptist Church and accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age. Romie graduated from James H. Bowen High School and attended Chicago Metropolitan Business College. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged after serving six years.
He returned to Chicago and was employed by the University of Chicago for a number of years. Romie loved to drive, and decided he wanted to travel. He received his CDL’s license and became a long distance truck driver for the TRL Company. He traveled over most of the USA.
Before moving to Iowa City, IA, in 2015, Romie was employed by the Chicago Tribune Newspaper. After moving to Iowa City, he was a dedicated employee of HD Supply Construction and Industrial White Cap of Iowa City, IA.
He was a loving and devoted father, son, brother and friend.
He leaves to cherish his memories, two sons, Romeral Jr. and Louis; two daughters, Tiesha Evans and Tomesha Kalfus; mother Charlesetta Harris; three sisters, Yalanda Harris, Angela (Charles) Woods, Lisha Harris; four grandchildren, Tiana, Lauren, Purpose and Romeral III; uncle, Lemorn Franks; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and his homies, Kim Weathersby and Carlton Ford.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City where visitation will precede the service by one hour.
