Obituary of Harold T. Anderson
Harold Thomas Anderson passed away Sunday morning, March 30th, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa. He was 59.
Harold was born February 24th, 1955 in Fairfield, IA to George F. Anderson and Margaret Mineart Anderson. He attended school in Lockridge and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1973. He moved to Rock Springs, WY in 1974 to work at Brown and Root Construction Co. He met Melody Jane Kramer from Green River, WY and they were married on November 8th, 1975. He became employed at Texas Gulf Sulphur in the fall of 1975 and also attended Western Wyoming College where he acquired his Certified Welder Certificate which he used lifelong. They became parents to Tiffany, Thomas, and Harmon which Harold considered his greatest creations. They moved to Richland, Iowa in 1977 where they have maintained a residence since. In 1984 he started his own company Hanco Enterprises, which will attain its 30-year anniversary May of this year. He became a licensed private airplane pilot in 1985 and enjoyed many adventures from this endeavor. He loved airplanes and could tell you almost anything about any of them! His family lived in Craig, CO from 1987 to 1991, where he operated the airport. In 1992, he spent 4 months doing airplane salvage in Florida after Hurricane Andrew and his family moved to Alice, Texas in 1993 for that year processing these planes. He also dealt in cars, ongoing aircraft part sales and scrap metal. In the past 2 years he became a part time gold miner and built a gold dredge, which he took to Nome, Alaska.
He is survived by his wife Melody, daughter Tiffany and husband (Josh Cole), son Thomas and significant other (Kassia Zalewski) and grandson Owen, son Harmon and wife (Nicole Baker) and granddaughter Ila and grandson Ezra. All of Harold's 10 siblings are living, Marie, Lee, Corinne, Paul, Jeanette, Mary, Richard, Robert, Dean and Jeff.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Woolson Friends Church, 1005 Jasmine Ave, Richland, IA on Thursday April 3rd, at 1:30 p.m. Memorial funds can be sent to P.O. Box 182, Richland, Iowa 52585 and will be divided among entities in Richland.
He is going to be missed so much!
