Obituary of Patricia M. Secrest

Patricia Marie Secrest, 65, died unexpectedly Thursday, September 8,2016 , at the Pioneer Park Care Center in Lone Tree ,Iowa . A Mass of Christian burial will held Monday, September 12, 2016, at 10am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City. A visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the Mass. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Patty’s family and her services. Patricia Marie Secrest was born September 13,1950 She was adopted by William and Eleanor Secrest as an infant and grew up on the family farm near Downey, Iowa. She attended West Branch schools graduating in 1968. After graduating from the University of Iowa with a BA in education, she taught elementary school in Maquoketa, Iowa. When health problems began to plague Patty, she returned home to live with her parents. She resided at Pioneer Park with her mother the last few years of her life. Patty was a gifted musician, being to play the piano by ear. She also had a strong love for animals, especially her cats. Patty is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Billy Joe, and her daughter, Erin. She leaves behind many cousins and friends. As a memorial to Patty, donations may be made to the church.
