Obituary of Joyce A. Hamer
Joyce A. Hamer, 78, a resident of the Pioneer Park in Lone tree for the past 4 years died Friday, September 9, 2016.
Joyce was born December 15, 1937, in Iowa City, the daughter of Matthew and Veronica (Shanahan) TenEick. She attended St. Patrick’s School in Iowa City. On December 31, 1955, she married Fred Hamer.
Joyce enjoyed playing bingo, eating ice cream, all social events, especially when music was involved. Being a quiet, courteous and intelligent person, she became herself as a resident at Pioneer Park. Due to her mental illness, she lived within a smaller world, but made a big impact with all who knew her. The smallest things mattered the most! Her favorite colors were pink and purple and she loved opening gifts. Everything had its place, and if it was changed, she would let you know it. Her smile and sense of humor was like a bright sun shining day, so precious and dear. She had a great independence within, was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
Her family includes her four children, Dan Hamer (Deb), Wayne Hamer, Chris West (Ron Malichky), and Susan Pollock (Chris); grandchildren, Patrick West, Chealsea Pollock, Ryan Pollock, Melyssa Ernst, Karle Cross, Amber Hatler, Trenton Hamer, Sabrina Quandt, Eric Bevans, and Tony Crone; 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, brother, Robert TenEick (Joy); sister-in-law, Patsy Hamer; brother-in-law, Howard Hamer; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two infant brothers, Mathew and Donald; and her sister-in-law, Marcy TenEick.
Joyce’s family would like to thank everyone at Pioneer Park for the compassionate care extended to our mother and our family throughout these years. Private family services are being planned at this time. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Joyce’s family and her arrangements.
