Dennis "Peach" Jeter
1950 - 2016
Condolences
I just learned of Dennis' passing from my Uncle Hubert on Tuesday, November 1st, 2016. Dennis was a close friend of mine when we lived on Buresh Avenue just two houses diagonally Northwest from the Jeter's residence on Caroline Avenue. We spent a lot of time together doing things like playing ping pong, listening to 45s, shooting baskets, and exploring in the nearby woods. Dennis had a warm-hearted personality and a positive attitude about things that would uplift your spirit whenever you were with him. There was always a Pepsi and smile for me when I visited Dennis at his home. My sincere sympathy to Sharon and all the Jeter Family.
Best, Rick Reiland
To Sharon, children and the Jeter family, I just read about Dennis. I am so sorry for your loss. He was such a great guy. He ALWAYS had a smile on his face, and such a wonderful personality. I remember him from growing up, and the Plamor Lanes days. I hadn't seen him for a number of years and did have the opportunity to run in to him at the U of I. It was very nice to see him. Keeping your family in thought, and prayers. God Bless, Krista Poulsen
Just saw this today. Denny and I grew up two houses apart, starting in n 1956. On behalf of my mom, Eloise, and the whole Stewart family, our deepest condolences.
He truly was a Peach. Our very best to you Sharon and the whole family.
So very sorry to all the Jeter family!!! Even though I knew all the boys I remember Dennis for all his kindness and humor drinking in the bar, especially during times I just needed a break my from family, lol! May you all heal with time and remember all the good times you had with him! God bless you Dennis!
Sharon and all the Jeter Family we are sorry for the loss of a great man. Denny was the best bartender this side of the Mississippi. I am sorry I could not make it but I can say this,I brought back the victory from Rutgers on Saturday as I was there. You will all be in our prayers. “Here’s to you, here’s to me, the best of friends we’ll always be. And if we ever disagree, to hell with you, and here’s to me.” R.I.P. my friend.
Dear Sharon and family,
Please know that you have are condolences on Denny's passing. We felt very fortunate that we ran into you and Denny at the hospital in Iowa City last fall.
We know that he was loved and that he will be missed so much. Patrick has many fond memories of "growing up" and spending time in Iowa City with Denny and Dave.
It's good to know that Ryan and our son Derick and their wives met recently in Fort Collins. Not realizing at the time that they were "cousins".
Hugs all around for you....Love, Patrick & Danelle Disterhoft
Sharon, I'm very sorry to read of your loss. Thoughts and prayers are with you. Pat

When I would be walking the dogs and meet Denny when was out walking, he would greet me with that wonderful smile of his and a big old grin. I know he will be missed by so many, but wonderful memories you have.

My deepest condolences to the entire Jeter family. Dennis was a wonderful person and will be always be remembered.
When he was able dennis loved to walk around our block and I always remember the smile on his face as he walked around Wayne Avenue and as I met him no matter which dog I was walking. Now he is walking without any restrictions whatsoever on the streets of heaven free of all pain.
My heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of my lifelong buddy. The world has lost a wonderful comedian, but Heaven has gained one!
Never have I looked more forward to going to work or had more fun than the time I spent tending bar with Denny during Plamor Lane's heyday. I knew it was going to be an adventure every night. My stomach would ache from laughing by closing time. There's never been anyone like Denny nor will there ever be another.
Thank you my friend, Cherub Boy.
My old bartending buddy, I will remember our good times with the Playmore Open Golf Tournament and all the fun we had together opening all of those beer bottles on League Nights!!! Rest in Peace my friend.

Sharon and family, please accept our deepest sympathy for your loss. Denny fought a hard and long battle and you and the family shared in his struggle. May you all have peace now.
