Obituary of Ricky L. Cox
Ricky Lee “Rick” Cox, 58, lifetime resident of this area died Monday, October 31, 2016 at his home in Coralville surrounded by his family.
Memorial services will be held at 10 am Friday, November 4, 2016 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery where Military Honors will be performed in Rick’s Honor. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 to 7 pm Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Iowa City Hospice or the Iowa City Cancer Center.
Rick was born June 28, 1958, in Iowa City the son of Edwin E. and Verna L. (Holderness) Cox. He attended Iowa City Schools, graduating from West High School. He enlisted in the Navy after high school, serving his country during the Vietnam War. Following service he returned to Iowa City where he has worked for a number of manufacturing companies in the area. He was a member of the VFW and Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed golf, Frisbee golf, camping, fishing, San Diego Chargers and NASCAR, but most of all hanging with family and friends.
His family includes his father, Edwin; mother, Verna Cox; siblings, Deborah Cox (Greg Rutt), Cathy Kintz (John), Barbara Philipps (Bart), Candance Greathouse (Dean), and Edwin Cox Jr; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a sister, Becky Cox.
