Hermine E. McLeran
1934 - 2016
Condolences
Dear McLeran Family:
Out west we are just now learning of Hermine`s passing. She was well loved and respected by many out here. I am seeing that an obit will be in CDHA Ass`n Journal as well as the Peninsula Component.
Carol Tolen, Mtn. View, CA.
Hermie attended our St Paul UC of Christ in Lansing when I was a teenager. She became a close friend of our family and, as time went on, a special friend of mine. The summer after my graduation from high school (1960) she came to visit me at the camp where I had a job, on the shores of Lake Michigan. We had such a lovely visit there in the dunes, walking and talking. I was recalling it today and decided to try to find her. Alas, I have found her too late to thank her for her friendship, but not too late to share your grief and fond memories. I wish you all peace and healing
as you move forward.
Sincerely, Jane
We are saddened with the recent loss of our friend, Hermine. Our friendship began in 1974 when Jim was appointed Dean, and continued over the years when we hosted Hermine and Jim for an Iowa @ UNC basketball game in North Carolina. We all learned much from Hermine, and we will all carry on her legacy. With Heartfelt sympathy,
Frankie & Johnny
So sad to hear of your loss. Hermine was an awesome lady ! We knew her best from tailgates when she showed up everyone would jump to greet her ! She brought a smile to everyone's face ! My favorite story is when she tore her tickets out from the packet and accidentally tore off the bar codes making the tickets worthless ! Too funny !
Sorry that I missed the services today, I wanted to be there, but we had a hygienist out and I needed to see her patients - Hermine would have understood. She was one of the first people I met when I moved to Iowa City in 1981 - we were both dental hygienists that graduated from Michigan and we became friends immediately. I always enjoyed working with her in the preventive clinic. I also loved her lipstick! She will be missed!
I had the pleasure to meet and work with Hermine and Jim when they moved to SUn City Grand . She was so kind and engaging as I was an Exercise Physiologist for Sun Health.
I thoroughly enjoyed meeting a fellow Hawkeye, and we had many contacts over the next few years. My condolences to all her family, she was a warm and wonderful lady.
The world finds itself short one pearl of a lady. Heaven is now the richer for our loss.
Hermine was such a very gracious, pleasant lady whom I've known for many years as members of the Congregational UCC. I enjoyed participaing in various church events with Hermine and will always remember her with much fondness. God bless you, Hermine.
I had the honor and pleasure of working with Hermine on several dental public health projects as members of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry. I was a junior faculty at the time, and Hermine was a wonderful mentor and colleague. I am sorry to learn of her passing, but grateful that I had the opportunity to know and learn from her. With sincere sympathy, Terri
