Obituary of Mary Ann Gerard

Mary Ann Gerard, 82, longtime resident of Iowa City, died Sunday, July 19, 2015, at the Briarwood Health Care Center in Iowa City. Private family graveside services are being planned for Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Mary Ann's memory to Briarwood Health Care Center. Online condolences may be sent through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Mary Ann Stevens was born August 26, 1932, in Raleigh, Iowa the daughter of Elmer and Freda (Mershon) Stevens. Shortly after graduating from Raleigh High School, she moved to Iowa City. She married Dean L. Gerard on January 15, 1953. For many years she worked for the Iowa City School District in food service. Her family includes her husband, Dean; their son, Dennis Gerard (Ellen); 3 grandsons, Michael Gerard (Rachel), James Gerard (Jenniffer), and Joseph Gerard (Michelle); one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Gerard; two sisters, Peg Brame and Barb Forsythe. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Ronald Stevens.
