Obituary of Maxwell H. Collins
Maxwell H. Collins, affectionately known as “Maxi” gained her wings on December 22, 2016 after a long and spirited battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma. She was surrounded by her family and under the loving care of the physicians and nurses at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital.
Maxi is the daughter of Ryan and Michelle (Clark) Collins of Garwin, Iowa; she was born August 26, 2014 in Waterloo. Over the course of her young life, she was an inspiration to all who crossed her path, whether that was along the sidewalk while she was out for a wagon ride, delighting in the sunshine on her face, or the many nurses and doctors at the hospital who were so dedicated to her care. She loved rides in daddy’s truck and cuddling with momma and had a smile to brighten the darkest of days.
Her family includes her parents Ryan and Michelle; brother, Caiden; grandparents, Peg and Steve Buchanan of Garwin, Clifford Collins of Garwin and Steve and Lori Clark of Coralville; great-grandparents, Alta Widmer of Iowa City and Ann and Doug Campbell of Coralville; Maxi’s aunts and uncles, Brad and Ashley Clark, Megan Clark and her fiancé, Danny Williams and Cassidy Collins as well as her cousins, Deaton, Charlotte, Angel and Elijah and her cuddly, loving puppy Genny.
A time to celebrate Maxi’s life will be held from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, December 28th at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City.
Her family would like to acknowledge the great, loving care they all received during her time in the hospital, and especially recognize and say thank you to the nurses and physicians on 3JCP at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital.
