Arlene was not only my Aunt but also my baptism sponsor. A role she took seriously and followed through on. Every year there was a card at every holiday and at birthdays I and Barb looked forward to the handwritten letter that accompanied it. Arlene wrote the same way she talked: high speed and everything she could think of that was happening right then and yesterday and more. It was always a challenge to figure out when, in between all those words she had time to take a breath. I will miss that so much. Rapid fire conversations.
My favorite memory is of what a great cook she was. Every time we visited as a kid I would find a excuse to go out to the backyard, passing by the chest freezer and swiping 2 or 3 frozen cookies on the way. To this day I prefer my cookies frozen.
Arlene was the eldest of three remarkable sisters, all love their families fiercely, and their God completely. Arlene was a unique and special lady. She leaves an empty place in our life and a very warm memory.
