I was sorry to hear of Dr Reynolds' death. I was fortunate to be able to do research at the U of Iowa in 1983-84 in his lab as an undergraduate, working alongside Eric and Grant, his research assistants. I was able to co-author a couple of papers on hypovolemic shock. Dr Reynolds was a mentor and I was honored to work under him. I was accepted into the U of IA medical school in 1984 and am an Emergency Physician practicing in Edina, MN. Dr Reynolds will be missed and I am grateful I got to know him.
I am so very sorry to hear of David’s passing. I worked in Surgery Research when he was the director. He was a very kind and thoughtful man. My fondest memories of him were during his courtship of the vivacious Julia Davis. Today, they are again, dancing among the stars.
Dave was a fine friend and colleague whom I first met in the 1970s at physiology meetings because of our similar interests. I think he was in Washington at the time and I was delighted when he accepted the position as head of surgical research at Iowa. I joined the Dept. of Internal Medicine at Iowa in 1962 and Dave and I shared an interest in the control of blood flow by the central nervous system. He had my respect and admiration and I lament the loss to his family and many friends.
