Obituary of Dennis J. Loew

Dennis J. Loew, 57, of Washington, Iowa, passed away the morning of March 8, 2017 in the comfort of his home, with his wife, Tauhirah by his side. A gathering to remember and celebrate Dennis’ life will be held from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Memorials in Dennis’ name may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Iowa City Hospice. Dennis James Loew was born December 27, 1959, in Evansville, Indiana; the son of Leo and Patricia (Gilchrist) Loew. After graduating from William Henry Harrison High School in Lafayette, Indiana; Dennis went on to attend Purdue University and remained a loyal Boilermaker his entire life. Dennis also obtained an AAS degree in Electronics Technology from Southwestern Community College in Creston, IA. Dennis will be remembered as an avid sports fan, cheering for the Boilermakers and the Indianapolis Colts; one who enjoyed golfing and trips with friends to Las Vegas as well as time camping, and planning future camping trips with his wife, Tauhirah, with whom he married on September 11, 2015 in Iowa City. For the last ten years, Dennis has enjoyed being an employee of the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort. His family includes his wife, Tauhirah; brothers, Mike Loew of South Carolina and Chris Loew (My) of Hawaii; sisters, Jeane Kretzschmar (John) of South Carolina and Beverly Baker (Bruce) of Alabama as well as numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Patricia.
