Obituary of Joshua A. Johnson

Joshua A. Johnson, age 40 longtime resident of Iowa City died Sunday, March 26, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4 to 6 pm Friday, March 31st. at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service where at 6 pm there will be a time of sharing stories and memories. Casual attire is requested, jeans and your Cubs shirt in memory of Josh! In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Joshua’s memory. Joshua Aaron Johnson was born October 2, 1976 in Iowa City the son of Lloyd and Karen (Rouse) Johnson. He attended Iowa City schools, graduating from West High School in 1995. He attended Kirkwood Community College for a time after graduation. He has worked as a Certified Nurses Aide for Atrium Village and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for many years. Joshua enjoyed so much in his lifetime, most importantly was his family, especially his three children. He was known to like his Chicago Cubs, Star Wars, Cartoons, Heavy Metal Music, Sci-fi, Art and Video Games. A bit of everything, but all together it was simply Joshua. His family includes his wife, Olivia; their three children, Guillermo, Mannix and Averi; his mother, Karen Johnson; his three siblings, Jacob Johnson (Shannetta), Jayme Clements (Keith) and Joni Reed (Nate); grandfather, Eldon Rouse; parents-in-law, Martin and DeAnn Torres; brothers and sisters-in-law, Martin & Felicia Martinez, Nina Torres (Jeremy Pettit; and A.J. Torres; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, sister, Joey Miller, and grandparents.
