Obituary of Joyce K. Eakes

Joyce Kay Eakes, 74, of West Branch, Iowa, passed away peacefully March 31st 2017 at her home surrounded by loving family. All are welcome to attend a celebration of life at her home, 128 Oliphant Street in West Branch between 2 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5th in lieu of a traditional service per Joyce's wishes. Memorial gifts may be made to Iowa City Hospice or the West Branch public library. Joyce was born June 12, 1942, in Iowa City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Al & Helen Wonick. Joyce worked as a nurse’s aid in Labor & Delivery at the University of Iowa Hospitals for 15 years. Prior to that, she had worked at Crestview Nursing Home in West Branch, Iowa. Joyce's hobbies included time with her family, bowling, reading, consignment/shopping, camping, visiting the casino and attending her grandchildren's activities. She was proceeded in death by her son Jeffrey Lane Kober, her parents and her brother James Wonick. Joyce is survived by her husband Allen, her son James Henry, her daughters Debra (Jim) Belknap, Kerry (Matthew) Koenighain, Lisa (Lonnie) Zingula, Kate (Jeremy) Kangas. Also survived by her are her grandchildren Tara, Brooke, Jacob, Zachery, Jordan, Karissa, Allen, Emma, Jeffrey, Sophie, Madelynn , Gunnar & great-granddaughter Lakin.
