So sorry I could not make the gathering for my neighbor Darlene. Although we usually had opposing yard sign support in our yards, we talked and enjoyed each other. She is one of the last originals in our neighborhood. May you celebrate her life well.
My heart goes out to Darlene's family. She was a delightful lady whose passion for music was obvious in her dedication to the Iowa City New Horizons Band and to Voices of Experience chorus while she was a member of each. Additionally, she was known for her LOVE for dancing. Her enjoyment of music and life was infectious to all those who were lucky enough to call her friend. May the many memories help ease the pain of her passing. Hugs, Nancy Wombacher
Deb your mom was really a special person. My sympathies go to you and your family.

thoughts and prayers to Darlene's family. I've known Darlene since we worked together for 18 years in the school system. then in 1999 when we both lost our husbands we again reunited in a grief support groups. Darlene was admired by many for taking her medical issues as they came and never getting discouraged. Keep your many memories of Darlene close to your heart.
My deepest condolences to Darlene's family, especially her daughters, Deb, Doreen, and Deanna, who were there for her with so much love. Darlene had so much spunk and zest for life, I thought she might just live forever. She endured a lot during her many illnesses and is now at peace, making music in heaven.
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone at this difficult time. The few opportunities I had to see Darlene she always brought a smile to my face. She was a beautiful person and the love for her family was obvious. I will not be able to attend services but my heart will be with you.

Although they never met, Darlene as the daughter of Helen (Boss) Cohenour was the first cousin of my mother Virginia (daughter of Helen's sister Edith). After meeting Darlene we often collaborated in the genealogy of our Boss, Lucas and Jelly family ancestors. During our visits to Iowa City she always welcomed us into her home. In 2003 when her New Horizons Senior Band Group scheduled a concert in Tacoma, Washington we were privileged to attend, enjoying her visit with us and providing the opportunity for a mini Boss & Lucas Family reunion with other distant cousins of ours in the area.
Our profound condolences to my second cousins and all the family. Thank you for sharing her with me.
I've enjoyed knowing Darlene so much in the past few years. We have gone to CHM events together and visited at her home. She worked at Twain where I've volunteered for many years and I've been able to hear stories from there, about the houses in the neighborhood, her musical life her church and about her family. I will miss her so much. And though I haven't met her children, I know how much she loved and appreciated them and the care they have given her in her illnesses.
Deb and family, my sincere sympathy goes out to you and family. Thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Sincerely, Cathy Wieland Fountain
My condolences. She sure put up a good fight. Over and over I would send her cards from REAC. I kidded her she got her $3 worth from her dues for the cost of postage. She was always so bright and just had a lot of go get. My nephew worked for Toddy. I am waiting for funeral time. I wont be able to go if on Monday or Tues morning
