It was my privilege to know Mrs. Rowland while I was in my residency at SUIH in the early 1950s. Later Mrs. Rowland became my patient during my practice years with Towncrest Internal Medicine in Iowa City. Thus I knew her as a a kind and respected head nurse in the University of Iowa Department of Orthopedics, and I knew her when I was her personal primary physician. In both her role as a healthcare professional and her role as wife, homemaker and citizen, Mrs. Rowland was in every way a class act. Hers was indeed an example of a life well lived. My condolences to all of her family members.
