I will greatly miss one of my very best friends. Hard working, adventurous, full of integrity, and funny! We shared many things in common from the same birth year, sons both born on Halllowe'en in 1962, similar childhoods, love of travel. We had fun going to local events such as the Hospice Road Races, Arts Festival, movies. But the most fun was our journey up and down California visiting relatives and old friends. Betty was always willing to try new adventures such as a tower ride off the top of a tall building or visiting with Turkish villagers. Her four children were the center of her life and they were with her until the end of her life as she had wished. Her friends will always remember her and miss her.
I had the pleasure of working with your mother at the Department of Family Practice. She possessed all the skills needed to be a successful nurse and nurse manager. She was kind, hard working, had a good sense of humor, knew how to stand her ground and always put the patient first.
I regret I didn't get to spend time with her when she relocated back to Iowa City.
Rest In Peace, Betty. You earned it.
So sorry to hear about Betty's passing. I remember well her steady, compassionate and capable presence in the Family Practice Department during my years there as a faculty member. She was a good, supportive friend as well as a wonderful colleague.
I just want to say your mom was always so nice to me..and to my family...ill try and make it to Hilltop ide love to see you "kids"
Dear Family of Betty,
I was shocked and saddened to learn of Betty's passing today. She was our neighbor across the street on Crestview for many years, and during that time we greatly enjoyed her beautiful spirit! She was a compassionate, kind, adventurous, and fun person to be around, and I know that she will be greatly missed by many people. She was one of the most vibrant people I've ever known! Please know that our thoughts and prayers will be with you at this time.
