Leon E. Lyvers
1930 - 2017
Condolences
My name is Valerie. Today, 30 years ago Leon Jr went to be with The Lord. And it is on this day, that I see that Leon Sr went to be with the Lord in 2017. This family is very special to me!! Oh for the day we meet again......in Jesus.
Leon was a true gentleman who will be missed by all who knew him. We shared times together at conventions and other events that focused on values and principles. He was a man who stood for both. I was proud to call him my friend.
Very Sincerely,
Bob Anderson

I had the pleasure of being part of Mr Lyvers care for the last four years. I always looked forward to seeing him in clinic, he always had a smile and a kind word for all that he met regardless of his own struggles. I remember seeing him in clinic and being astonished to find out that he still climbed trees, with his oxygen tubing trailing behind him. I was recently on maternity leave and when I returned he made it a point to ask about the baby whenever I talked to him. He will be missed but Im sure he will continue to watch over his family and friends from Heaven. Until we meet again....
To the family of Leon Lyvers:
I was fortunate to have known Leon over the years; he frequented Aero Rental where I once worked, and he came into Iowa City Brake as a customer as well (where I work now). He always had that infectious smile that was his trademark. Such a nice, pleasant old gentleman who always had a kind word and an encouraging demeanor about him.
Leon was as tough as nails - one of the last of the iron men who worked and worked and worked. Even in his 80's he could have probably out-worked men half his age.
He will be missed!

I had not seen Leon around town for a number of years. From the time I met him in the early 70's on Prairie du Chein Road on my paper route until our last time speaking him was always so kind and smiling. So sorry to all family.
It is with great sorrow that I hear of Leons passing this morning. I met Leon while seving a 20 year prison sentence at Oakdale. Leon didnt see a man as society would but rather a man who was broken and trapped in bondage a man who needed the Lord. I am very greatful for the Lord placing Leon in my path during that time in my life. While its true I will miss Leon, his smile, his geniune laugh and his love for people like myself. My spirit rejoices in the fact that he's home with the Lord. We will all miss you my brother and friend your work on earth is done and may you hear the words "Well done my faithful servant".
Leon was my friend and a man whom I greatly admired. His personal story and commitment to others was an inspiration, and a testimony to his faithfulness to God. He was a devout believer in Jesus Christ and I joyfully rest in the certainty of his heavely home.
In the mid 1970's when I was in college, Leon gave me and a friend, the opportunity to earn some money painting the family home. That money came in handy and I never forgot his kindness. Ever since I have always looked forward to running into him and feeling the good wishes of his smile and seeing the twinkle in his eyes.
I wish I could attend his service and pay my respects but I still live out-of-state (will be returning to Iowa this autumn). However I will be there in spirit and prayer.
God bless Leon.
