Obituary of Twyla U McConnell

Twyla U. McConnell, 91 of Williamsburg died Friday, July 28, 2017, at the Highland Ridge Senior Living Community in Williamsburg. 

Memorial services will be held at 1pm Monday, July 31, 2017, at the First Presbyterian Church in Iowa City.  Burial will take place at a later date at the Murray Cemetery, Murray Iowa.  Online condolences can be sent for her family through the funeral home website @ www.gayandciha.com.

Twyla Uvonne Wood was born December 27, 1925, in Murray, Iowa the daughter of Lloyd Henry and Grace Pearl (Gilbert) Woods.  Following high school she was united in marriage to Francis Newton McConnell on January 27, 1945, they celebrated 71 years of marriage this past January. The couple had lived in Osceola, Iowa for over 21 years, moved to Mountain Home, AR where they lived for the next 35 years and then returned to Iowa in 2012 to be near family.

Her family includes her husband, Francis; two daughters, Judy L. Whitford of Coralville; and Janet K. Wells of  Hurricane, UT; four grandchildren, Brien Whitford, Cara Whitford, David Wells, and Lisa Augustin; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 3 step-brothers and son-in-law, Wendell Whitford.
