Paul Joseph Springmire was born April 27, 1934, in Tiffin, Iowa the son of Ralph and Emily (Paul) Springmire. Following graduation he was united in marriage to Joyce Ann Slach on August 2, 1954, at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa City. During the Korean Conflict Paul served in the United States Army. He returned to this area where he worked different jobs before starting at the University of Iowa where he worked for over 30 years until his retirement.
A more simple man would be hard to find, than Paul, didn’t take much to keep him happy! He enjoyed the outdoors, walking (usually along Muscatine Avenue) fishing, and Mother Nature at its finest. Has always enjoyed watching airshows, especially when his “Blue Angels” were performing. Paul liked to have coffee with his friends, Saturday morning breakfast in Tipton with Larry, and a cold can of Busch Light was never turned down. He loved animals, especially dogs, but most dear to him was his family and good friends.
His family includes a sister –in-law and her husband, Shirley and Gordon Zumwalt of Iowa City; nephew and his wife, Larry and Margaret Beuter of Iowa City; Paul’s Lady Friend, Linda Vikel of Windham; great-nieces, Brooke Buxton and Tiffany Beuter; and many other nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Joyce in 1995.
