Along with the other caregivers at the Bird House, I got to know Kelly when she came to live with us. I will always remember Kelly's patience when she would communicate with me (someone who does not sign) and I wouln't understand. She was always so patient with me and would just make attempts until I understood. She never once showed impatience or frustration. Without words I got to know her, to feel I understood her resilience and patience and determination. I know her church and friends meant so much to her as they came to visit, holding service with her and supporting her at this time. Watching her family rally around her and support her was reassuring and touching too. I feel like Kelly did this "her" way and I admire and respect her for that.
