Obituary of Pauline A. Gilloon
Pauline "Polly" Ann Gilloon, 60, of Iowa City, Iowa died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at home after a long battle with COPD and lung cancer.
A private service will be held at a later date. Polly was born September 2, 1957, in Dubuque, Iowa. She was the daughter of Thomas and Margaret Ellen “Mickey” Gilloon. She attended Western Dubuque High School in Epworth, Iowa, graduating in 1975. After high school, she enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps where she was proud to serve as a pharmacist technician. She was stationed in Landstuhl, Germany and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri in the US Army and as a civilian employee of the US Army. She married John J. Jennings in 1989 and helped to raise two lovely step-daughters. They later divorced. In retirement, Polly settled in Iowa City, Iowa.
Polly was a proud veteran, dog lover and an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Polly is survived by two brothers, Daniel Gilloon of Iowa City, IA and Andrew Gilloon of Manchester, NH, five sisters, Elizabeth (Noel) Gilloon of Atlanta, GA, Margaret Ellen “Peg” (Rick) McGee of Madison, WI, Emily (Carl) Danford and Nora Booth of Austin, TX and Regina (Jerry) Gilloon-Meyer of Cedar Rapids, IA, and two step-daughters, Jennifer Jennings and Julie Jennings, and nine nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Thomas Gilloon, Jr.
