Obituary of Jeremy J. Olson

Jeremy was a friend to anyone and everyone, especially those in need.  He would give the shirt off his back to a complete stranger.  He loved his family and friends deeply and unconditionally.   He lived his life full tilt, it was suddenly ended much too soon at home in Cedar Rapids. 

Born in Oelwein, Iowa, to his mother Sharon Olson-Comer (Kyle Comer) and father Dale Olson. He grew up in Fayette Iowa, and Iowa City with his mother and sister Cassandra Olson.  He loved to spend time on his grandparents’ farm and with aunts, uncles and cousins.  Jeremy’s life created a love and passion for the outdoors and nature which he shared with his own children.

Jeremy attended school in Iowa City, worked in heating and plumbing most of his adult life. Married and divorced Lisa (Thorp) Koplin having one son Gage Olson 22. Then met the love of his life Erin Winchel, with whom he had 4 more children.  Jacob Gatz 18, Aiden Olson 15, Emma Olson 14, Elijah Olson 10.

Jeremy lived for his children and nothing made him happier than for them to be smiling, laughing and loving.  Having them all within his embrace was his peace.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Clyde and Thelma McFarlane, Grandfather Donlin “Bud”  Olson, Aunt Linda McFarlane, Uncle Joy McFarlane, cousins Amy, Melissa and Brady McFarlane.

Jeremy is survived by Erin Winchel, his children Gage, Jacob, Aiden, Emma and Elijah.  His parents Kyle and Sharon Comer, sister Cassandra Olson (Corey Parizo) nephew Colton Woods and niece Chloe Parizo.  His father Dale (Cynthia) Olson, many Aunts, Uncles and cousins.

Services celebrating Jeremy’s life will be held at 7pm Friday, November 17, 2017, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with a time of visitation beginning at 4pm until services begin.  In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established to assist the family.  For a more complete obituary, an opportunity to share a memory, thought or condolence please go to the funeral home website @ www.gayandciha.com.
