Please accept my wish for peace for Dat and his family. Dat was my student in class first trimester at South East. He had such a positive attitude and a love of learning. Dat was a wonderful example of quiet leadership through example. He worked hard, was kind, and always came to class with a smile on his face. He gave me strength and helped me be a better person. He has made a positive impact on so many people and made South East Junior High a better place for all. We miss him.
I met Dat at the South East Boost program before he started 7th grade. I will always remember Dat's smile and fun-loving attitude. He was well-loved by all who knew him.
Please know that our thoughts are with your family during this time.
We were so sorry to hear about your loss.

I am a UIHC volunteer, and until just a few months ago, I took the Free Book Cart around the children's hospital every Wednesday morning. I looked forward to visiting Dat and helping him find just the right book. My prayers and condolences go out to your whole family. I know Dat will indeed be missed.
Although I don't know the Tran family, it is never easy to loose a loved one. Especially a child. Our deepest condolences to the Tran family.
It was my privilege to be Dat’s physical education teacher. He had many friends in his class who enjoyed playing games with him. It put a smile on Dat’s face to play games in physical education. One day Dat fell down playing a game. I thought he should go to the nurse. He said no and continued to be a part of class by watching his peers. Dat gives the example to me and his peers of what it is to be brave. He never complained or had a negative attitude at school. He was so kind. We will miss Dat. I am very sorry for your loss. Sincerely, Mrs. Elmer
We are so very sorry for the loss of your beloved son. We Hope you find peace in your family memories.
Dat was an amazing inspiration and was a strong person. I will never forget when me and my mom (Ms.Carlson) visited him in the hospital when he came back from Vietnam. We brought him Hot Chili Doritos and gum, he had the biggest smile on his face that day. He was later released and watched Iowa Beat Ohio State on the 12th floor. He inspired me to keep fighting and to never give up even when you don't feel good enough. Heaven has gained another angel. Dat dude will always be strong!
Miles is a classmate of Dat’s and is so sad to hear of his passing. He loved Dat a lot. Please know your SEJH family is thinking of you all at this time. Sarah, Scott, Evan, and Miles Hansen
