Condolences
Please accept our sympathy in the passing of Phil. We had lost touch with him and were saddened by the news. May the Lord bless and keep y'all.
Phil was a great conversationalist, and a good and kind friend of many years.
I was a close friend of Sean and Jamil growing up in Mount Vernon. We spent a lot of time at Phil and Tori's home on 2nd Avenue. Phil was a kind man who helped guide me and our crew of hooligans through some of the tough times and he was pretty patient with us when we were mischievous. Phil cared about young people and I'm happy to say I knew him during a very important time in a young man's life.
I have a clear image in my mind of Phil looking lovingly upon his daughter Hannah when she was 3 or 4 or was it 5(?). She, such a slight blond-haired baby girl who already talked like a teenager! He, usually analytical and perhaps a bit critical, would melt as she shared her thoughts of the world. No better way for a father to be remembered than that...father, daughter, smiling as a ray of sunlight washed over them. That's how I will remember Phil. RIP

I worked with Phil at Grant Wood Area Education Agency. He was quiet, kind, and thoughtful. I have always liked and respected him and so sorry to hear that he passed away.
Phil was my neighbor when we both lived in Mt. Vernon. We also shared a connection having grown up iin NW Iowa (I was born in George).. We worked together in Jones County schools as members of a Child Study Team through Grant Wood Area Education Agency. Phil was an insightful, kind and considerate co-worker. Phil was very helpful to parents, teachers and students. I was fortunate to have had Phil as a co-worker. May his family find peace and comfort.
