Obituary of Jeffrey J. Knappen
Jeffrey J. Knappen, 73, of Iowa City, passed away at home, April 10, 2018.
A gathering for family and friends to celebrate Jeff’s life and support his family will be held Sunday, April 15th from 1-3 pm at the Gay & Ciha Funeral Service in Iowa City where Military Honors will be rendered at 3 pm.
Jeff was born August 10, 1944 in Oelwein, Iowa; the son of Ervin and Maxine Knappen. He graduated from City High School and was later drafted to serve in the US Army, serving in Korea. Jeff was united in marriage to Linda Jenn on August 26, 1977; they had two children, and later divorced. Jeff worked for thirty-seven years at Plumbers Supply in Iowa City, retiring in 2006. He was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes supporting all their athletic teams, but was especially fond of Hawkeye Football attending many of their games with his father in law, Joseph Jenn.
His family includes his children, Nathan Knappen of Iowa City and Amber Walters (Zack) of Iowa City; grandchildren, Hayden and Leia; siblings, Kathy Woody of West Branch, Nancy Sims (Jack) of Augusta, GA, Jack Knappen (Barb) of Kansas City, KA and Richard Knappen (Marilyn) of Escondido, CA. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Tommy Knappen.
