Obituary of Gilbert E. Lindberg
Gilbert E. “Gil” Lindberg, 72, of Tipton, passed away Friday, April 27, 2018.
A gathering for family and friends will be held Saturday, May 5th from 2-4 pm at the Gay & Ciha Funeral Service in Iowa City. Graveside services with military honors will follow at St. Bridget Cemetery near Morse. Friends are encouraged to dress casual and comfortable as Gil would have wanted.
Gil was born August 15, 1945 in Elmcrest, Illinois; son of Gilbert and Betty Lindberg. Gil served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and attended the University of Iowa. He worked for 30 years at the former Wilton Steel Mill, retiring in 1999. Gil married Joan Stockman in 1979 who had preceded him in death. He married Sandra Dennis on December 28, 2007 in Iowa City.
His family includes his wife, Sandy; her children, Jesse (Rachel) Rohret, Brian (Stephanie) Rohret, Julie (Rikki) Rohret and Amber Corso; Sandy’s grandchildren, Charlotte, Hoyt and Sutter Rohret; Gil’s siblings, Cynthia (Ron) Madsen of West Branch, Susan (Steve) Lindberg of Missouri, Cheryl (Dan) Gunther of Colorado and Stephen Lindberg of West Branch.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Joan and her son, Robert R. Lowenberg.
Gil's family would like to say thank you and acknowledge the great care that was provided to Gil over the past months from the staff at Iowa City Rehab and Health Care Center.
