Arden Svoboda, Sr.
1928 - 2015
Condolences
I think of Mr. Svoboda every now and again, remembering his kindness and encouragement. He helped coordinate a scholarship program for the Moose Lodge in the early 1990s, and drove myself and other high schoolers around to present an anti-drug message to young students. He took an interest in who I was as a person and remembered me when I ran into him years later.
Best wishes to his family.

Arden and I have spent many hours together at different Moose functions and I was especially pleased to have him partake of my Pilgrim ceremony in '98. Both he and his wife, Irma, and my wife and I spent many hours together doing a lot of different things for the Moose and traveling to different places to meet so many other fine people. He will be greatly missed by many people. May he and Irma be in Eternal Rest together.. God speed Arden.
My sympathys to the family of dear Arden. I can't drive up Josh's driveway without looking at Arden's house expecting to see him by the garage, or coming out the house. He always had a kind word, and time to shoot the breeze! We all have great respect for him, and miss him dearly. You all were lucky to have such a special man that you called Dad. Bless you all- Nancy and Dan Peterson
Deepest sympathies
My favorite memories of uncle Arden was going to Disneyland no one was a stranger he made friends all over the park. But the trip home he was falling asleep and asked me how much further to Modesto, being young and no idea I said about a hour or two,so we stopped at this coffee shop and ordered pie and coffee. Well, in reality we were only about 30 minutes from Modesto. I think he was up all night but he wasn't mad just laughed it off, it chalked it up as a learning experience for asking a kid how close to home are we.
Love you uncle Arden. Rest in peace.

It was one of my father's more favorable sayings.
If I were to say something like: "I wish I had this car" or "I really want that___" He would say this. It would roll off his tongue like a favorite song, or a poem he had memorized as a youth.
He was always trying to teach us kids a little Czech. He probably had the biggest impact on my baby sister, although my son also took a shining to the language as well.
By the way, the above phrase means: "If you had fish up your butt, you wouldn't have to fish for them".
Miss ya dad :)

Eddie,
So very sorry to hear about the passing of your Father. I will be praying for you and your family.
Just wanted to let you know that our thoughts and prayers are with you in these difficult times. Your Dad was a very special person, we always enjoyed having him stop in the bank. I loved hearing his stories. He even brought us one of his special cherry cheese cakes one day.
It was a wonderful treat and so beautifully done. He had always told us about his cherry cheese cake and surprised us one day with one.
Your Dad was special, the world has lost a wonderful person but I know he is at peace with your Mom by his side. He missed her so.
Our Deepest Sympathy.
