Steven Benjamin Rios was born August 15, 1970, in Iowa City, the son of Frank and Bonnie (Terrill) Rios.  He attended Iowa City Schools, graduating from City High School with the Class of 1987.  For a number of years he worked for Big Ten Towing, before beginning his employment at Oaknoll Retirement Residence where he worked for the past 5 years.  Steve was many things to many people.  He was the avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes Fan; that Pool Shark that only the foolish thought they could beat; the Umpire of many co-ed league softball games which the players and fans alike come to know his trademark “time”   call; the guy that had a story for everything and loved to share it with you;the man with his 80’s music and sweet tooth that never left him.  But most of all, his family and friends were what Steve loved about life the most!

His family includes his children, Marah and Jacob; parents, Frank and Laura Rios and Bonnie Terrill; siblings, Cynthia Rios, DeeAnna Newlin, Lori Rios, Tony Rios and Brienna Rios; Steve’s life partner, Shania Schropp; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.  Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents, Binnie and Henry Rios, Amelia Calvert, and Roy “Shorty” Terrill; sister, Terry Kaye; nieces Alyssa and Destinee; and cousin, Brian.
