Obituary of Martha J Barrows

Martha “Marty” Camp Barrows of Iowa City died Wednesday May 2, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Marty was born August 26, 1947, in Keokuk Iowa, the daughter of Loren and Frances Camp. She was united in marriage to Jack Barrows on June 8, 1968.  He survives; other survivors include one brother, David (Patty) Camp of Palos Verdesm California and brother-in-law Joe (Lainie) Barrows of Redding, California as well as several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

 She was preceded in death by her parents.

Marty graduated from Keokuk Senior High with the class of 1965.  She attended Keokuk Community College and the University of Iowa. She was employed at the University of Iowa as secretary to the assistant dean of the College of Medicine until 1990. She then became a program assistant in the College of Medicine.  She retired in 2010 after 40 years of service.

 Marty was an avid fan of Iowa Hawkeye football.  Marty and Jack attended every Iowa bowl game since 1982.  They enjoyed winters at their home in Tucson, Arizona, but always made it back to Iowa City for the fall kickoff of the Hawks.

A time for family and friends to gather to celebrate Marty's Life will be held from 4 to 6 PM Thursday July 5, 2018, at the Keokuk Yacht Club.
