William 'Bill' Brown
1938 - 2018
Condolences
Dear Diane,
I just found out today that your dad has died. I'm so sorry to hear that. I never knew why he was suddenly gone from Legacy. Strange part of life at Legacy--much as I enjoyed visiting with you and your dad, I didn't even know his or your last name. Makenna told me today, and she knew Bill's last name. Guess these endings are never easy, but your dad is at peace now. David is sleeping more during the day and is less active. I often find him in a reclinerr on the spa side. Today he was sleeping in his room, and I was unable to awaken him. The doctor says it may be time to think of withholding antibiotics in case of an infection. Don't know if I can do that. Anyway, I do miss seeing you, always cheerful and full of energy. Take care of yourself. This has been a long chapter for you, and you were so good to your dad.

Bill was a classmate of mine at City High. I remember when he was a business man and had the tire service place on the south side of Iowa City. I had the opportunity to have service done there and usually got to see Bill and have a short chat with him. He was always friendly when I was there. Bill and Lyda were a wonderful couple. I would visit with them at our class reunions. It was so nice of his daughter to bring him to our last class reunion 2 years ago. I know his family is missing him a lot but glad that he and Lyda are together again.
Mike and family sorry for your loss. Your dad was an awesome man. You will all be in my prayers! Keep all the good memories in your hearts forever! God Bless
Bill was a good and honest man. Thank you, Bill, for passing those qualities on to your family!

Sorry for your loss. It doesn't seem that long ago I can remember our dads standing along the fences at a ball game. Remember the good times
My deepest condolences to the family. Bill was so good to me, over the years, personally and professionally. Now for how many years ?, I rely on Mike to take care of my car, and trust him and his staff completely. I treasure my connections to the Brown family, always!
Bill and Lyda were a couple who I remember making me feel at home which I moved to Iowa City. They were a very open, warm, loving couple. I miss them both, but am glad they are reunited in heaven.
My condolences to the family.
Mike and Family,
Sorry to hear of your loss. Bill was a friend and associate.

Even though I knew that Bill's health had been poor for some years, I'm saddened by his passing. When I joined the Old Capitol Chorus in 1978 at age 17, Bill immediately struck me as a leader to look up to. On a personal level, he was unfailingly sensible and fair, and he was tough on the outside but sentimental on the inside -- this quality evidenced by his expressed preference for tender Barbershop ballads.
As a singer, he had a full, dark voice that was a distinct pleasure to harmonize with.
When I returned to Iowa City in 1982, discouraged and jobless after college, Bill gave me a couple of jobs running tires from Iowa City Tire to Cedar Rapids. I'll always remember that kindness. I observed his dealings with customers, and he was always completely open, honest, and fair.
Bill will be remembered by all as the stand-up guy that he was, with a blend of positive qualities all too rare to find in one person. He'll undoubtedly be as big an asset to Heaven as he was on Earth.

I am so very sorry to hear of Bill's passing, I remember my 1st time of going to IC Tire when they were on Burlington, thinking by bill could be around $300.00 and when I picked up my car there was not a charge since all they had to do was tighten a screw. He helped me out many times in the years to follow with allowing me to make payments which a lot of places would never do.
He was so kind and gentle and a joy to visit with. I sure missed him when he retired.

We are so sorry about Uncle Bill. He was such a kind soul and certainly he is so happy to be on Aunt Lydia's arms again. Everyone member of your family make up their legacy. I know they re so proud do you all.
There are no words that can take away the feelings after losing someone you love. But know that you will see them again. We will all miss Bill in some way, I just try to picture him intently watching a Brent Metcalf wrestling match and I can do nothing but smile. I'm so sorry to all the friends and family of Bill. He was a great soul and will be greatly missed.
God Bless
In this difficult time may the wonderful memories the family has with Bill help you through.
He was so proud and loved his family so very much .
Deepest sympathy to you and your family. It is a sad day when our loved ones move on and leave us with memories. Your dad was the first person I dealt with as a single parent getting new tires for my car. He was so kind and fair.
My heart goes out to you and especially to his grandkids. Being a grandmother I know how special we are to the kids.
