Delores Jean Bulechek was born October 11, 1931 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, the daughter of Lawrence and Fransis J. (Reha) Bulechek. She married George Thomas Parsons on October 16, 1950 in Iowa City. The couple have farmed near Morse for many years, she loved the life on the farm. Not only was she at the side of her husband, not only did they raise their children together, but she always planted the huge gardens, canning the vegetables, cherries, grapes, apples, pears; they raised sheep and chickens; and of course those who knew Delores, knew her for her baking and cooking. From homemade noodles, to the cookies, pies and her world famous kolaches; one never left hungry after being at Delores’s home! She enjoyed playing cards, board games, working crossword puzzles, and putting puzzles together.
As if Delores didn’t have enough to do in their early years, she also had worked as a maid at a local motel, and also did housecleaning for a number of doctors over the years.
Her family was her world, always as a mother their supporting whatever her kids were involved with, and this carried on to the grandchildren’s school activities and sports also, nothing was better than being Grandma.
Her family includes her husband, George; children, Loren Parsons, and Darla Milks (Kent); grandchildren, Liliana Probst, Melissa Ruth (Dan), Megan Parsons, Joshua Milks (Stacey) and Abby Milks; great-grandchildren, John Ruth, Lucy Ruth, Cooper Milks and Bennett Milks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Sandra Kay Probst; 4 brothers, larry, Anthony, Paul and Louie; and 2 sisters, Alma and Christra.
