Obituary of Thomas R. Pettit

Thomas R. “Tom” Pettit, 64 of North Liberty, lifetime area resident died suddenly Sunday, July 29, 2018, at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Gay & Ciha funeral and Cremation Service, where visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday.  In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in his memory. Thomas Robert Pettit was born January 6, 1954, in Iowa City the son of Edward R. and Josephine (Bahles) Pettit.  Growing up in Iowa City he attended schools here, graduating from West High School with the Class of 1972.  He has worked in this area all his life, mostly at the former Highlander Inn and also for many years at Cubs Foods.  Tom enjoyed much in his life, fishing, cars, painting as an artist, anything Star Trek, watching TV and was known to enjoy eating.  But two things that were most important to him was his family and his sobriety for over 25 years!

His family includes his wife, Jane; his siblings, Donald Pettit (Evelyn), Kenneth Pettit (Gina), and Jennie Pettit; and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Emmett; three brothers, Edward, Joseph and Clifford.
