Ed was born on April 18, 1953 in Iowa City, the son of Earl and Irene Kelley Stroud.  He graduated from West High School and was a long-time resident of Iowa City.  In April, Ed retired from the chilled water plant at the University of Iowa after 42 years.

Every morning for breakfast and lunch you could always find him at Midtown Restaurant or Bluebird Café.  His job and his family were his life.  Ed would travel wherever necessary to watch his grandkids’ games, even if it was only for a few minutes.  Ed coached little league baseball and softball.  He was a great cook and made everything better with butter and cheese, even the instant potatoes.  Ed loved to fish, play Euchre and watch the Hawkeyes.  If you needed help, he was always there to lend a hand.  Ed was the go to person for any and every situation.

His family includes his four children, Jeramie Stroud (Cinnamon), Amy Stroud (David), Paul Stroud and Andrea Stroud; brother Richard “Dick” Stroud; sisters, Terry Abbott (Ralph), Diane Siems (Wayne), Barbara Brant, Betty Staley, Robin Cox (Don) and Christine Mayers; 9 grandchildren, Chris, Ethan, Logan, Tanner, Jill, Aiden, Rachel, Whitley and Clint; one brother-in-law, Dennis Rost and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bill, Ron and Frank Stroud and his sister, Ginger Rost.
