Obituary of Janice L. Grote

Janice Grote, 67, of Iowa City, died on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Janice was born on June 15, 1951, in Muscatine, Iowa the daughter of Frank and Margaret Lee.  Most knew Janice by the nickname “Toad”, which was given to her by one of the many people that called her mom.  Not only did she raise her own five children, but their friends as well.

She was always full of life.  Janice loved nature and animals.  Most importantly, she loved her family.  Her generosity filled the hearts of many.  Her kindness and her laugh will always be remembered.

Her family includes her children, Shelly Williams (Kevin), Angie Shelfo, Paul Smith (Kristen), Chad Smith and Bill Baldwin; grandchildren, Felicia, Jorey, Braidin, Taylor, Carter, Wyatt, Avery; four great grandchildren and her brother, Gary Lee.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents.
