Obituary of Mary C. Vineyard

Mary C. Vineyard, 81 longtime resident of Iowa City died Friday, December 14, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 7pm Monday, December 17th. at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service.  Graveside services will be held at 10am Tuesday at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mary Catherine Halstead was born May 22, 1937 in rural Iowa County, Iowa the daughter of Craig and Esther (Hall) Halstead.  She was united in marriage to Glenn Vineyard on February 14, 1982, in Fayetteville, AR. For many years she worked in the housekeeping department at Canterbury Inn in Coralville.  Most important in Mary’s world was her family and friends!

Her family includes their children, Sally McKee, Linda Pierce, Danny Linnell, Wally Linnell, Debra Canradi, and Catheren Vineyard; step-children, Pauline Lint, Pam Cook, Sherie Clyde, Glenna Vineyard, Hawanda Long, and Gail Vineyard; Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren;  Mary’s sisters, Edith Blaton, Viola Halstead, and Rosie Keaton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Jim Linnell; step-daughter, Lynda Vineyard; step-son, John Cook; and siblings, Margaret McAfee, Ruth Halstead, Bob Halstead, Ronnie Halstead, Jim Halstead, Francis “PeeWee” Halstead, Paul Halstead and Bill Halstead.
