Obituary of Thomas G. Cook
Thomas “Cody” Cook, 69, of Iowa City died Sunday, December 16, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
An open house potluck will be held Sunday, January 6, 2019, from 2 pm to 4 pm in the Community Room of Capitol House, 320 S. Dubuque Street, Iowa City. Cody was born July 9, 1949 in Omaha, Nebraska to Eva Backus. He attended school in Omaha, until his family moved to Alpine, Texas. Cody stayed home and assisted his mother with daily chores and helped care for his siblings. While living in Texas, he worked at a horse ranch and started bull riding at the local rodeo. In the early 1990’s, Cody met Mary Brown. They decided to move to Iowa since he had family there. In Iowa he took a job with B&D Entertainment, working carnivals around Iowa. Cody enjoyed music, playing his guitar and riding motorcycles. He loved spending time with Mary and their dog.
His family includes his significant other, Mary; sister-in-law, Melody Brown and their dog, Baby. Cody was preceded in death by his parents, step-dad, three brothers, one sister and his cat, André.
