Obituary of Joe Markey III

Joseph William Markey III passed away in the early morning of December 30, 2018 in Iowa City, Iowa. Joe is survived by his longtime companion and business partner, Norm Daddario; sister, Elizabeth Markey of Minneapolis, Minnesota; brother, Mike Markey (Karyn); and nieces Breana and Phoebe, all of Des Moines, Iowa.  There will be no services per Joe’s request.

Joe was born on March 14, 1957 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  He graduated from George Washington Senior High school in 1975.  A kind and funny man, he captured everyone who knew him with his good humor, quick wit, and infectious laugh.  Joe was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan, was a skilled chef, loved music and keeping up on politics, and taking care of his beloved pets. 

Joe was also a well-known, meticulous and talented home painter by trade.  He and Norm have jointly operated their highly successful painting business in and around the Iowa City area for many years.  Joe will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother and father, Jean A. Shearer Markey and Nicholas John Markey.
