Obituary of Maynard Parker

Maynard Parker, 87, lifetime resident of North Liberty died Saturday, January 12, 2019, at the Crestview Care Center in West Branch.

Funeral services will be held at 3pm Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with burial to follow at the Ridgewood Cemetery in North Liberty.  Visitation will be from 1 till 3pm Saturday. Maynard was born July 15, 1931, in rural Johnson County, Iowa the son of Thomas J “Jake” Parker and Ethel (Rogers) Parker.  He attended schools here graduating from City High School.

Maynard was united in marriage to Lois M. Henderson on October 6, 1951, in West Liberty. He began a career with the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) in maintenance which spanned over 32 years before retiring in 1992.

His family includes a son and his wife, Tom and Terry Parker, daughter-in-law Rae Parker, 4 grandchildren Kim Ordaz (Mauricio), Cory Parker (Shannon), Chad Parker, and Derek Parker, 8 great-grandchildren, a sister Dorothy Edwards, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Maynard was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lois, son Bob Parker, 4 brothers Leland, Virgil, Melvin and Don; and 2 sisters Lois Seering and Arlene Singleman.
